# Tags

> Label applicants with tags so you can filter and find groups of them again in seconds.

Tags are short labels you attach to applicants so you can pull up a group of them again in seconds. They work like labels in Jira: you make them up as you go, an applicant can have as many as you need, and once a tag exists, everyone on your team can reuse it.

Tags are most useful for the things Enfue doesn't already track for you. Stage, job, source, assignee, and priority all have their own filters, so you don't need tags for those.

## Add a tag

Click **+** next to **Tags**, either in the [preview header](/hiring/applicants/applicant-profile#the-applicant-header) or on the **Contact** tab of the [full profile](/hiring/applicants/applicant-profile#profile-details). Type the tag, or pick one your team already uses.

You can also add tags when you [add an applicant](/hiring/applicants/add-applicants), in the **Labels** field.

## Find applicants by tag

On the **Applicants** page, open the **Tags** filter and choose a tag to see every applicant who has it, across all your jobs. See [Applicants](/hiring/applicants/overview).

## Ideas for tags

| Use tags for | Examples |
| - | - |
| Skills or strengths you noticed that matter to you | `react`, `english-fluent`, `team-lead` |
| Availability and conditions | `available-now`, `notice-60d`, `part-time-only`, `remote-only` |
| Events and campaigns | `job-fair-oct-2026`, `campus-2026` |
| Follow-ups | `call-back`, `check-salary`, `waiting-docs` |
| Future opportunities | `future-senior`, `rehire`, `strong-runner-up` |

## Keep your tags useful

* **Agree on a short list as a team.** Tags only help with filtering if everyone uses the same ones.
* **Spell them the same way every time.** `react`, `React-JS`, and `reactjs` show up as three different tags. Use lowercase words joined by hyphens.
* **Keep one idea per tag.** `react` and `available-now` are easier to reuse than `react-available-now`.
* **Tag as you screen.** Add tags while you're reading the CV or right after a call, when the details are fresh.

<Tip>
  A good test for a tag: will you ever want to filter by it? If you're writing a sentence, use a [comment](/hiring/applicants/applicant-profile#comments) instead.
</Tip>
