# Disqualify and requalify applicants

> Remove applicants from your process with a reason, change the reason later, and bring them back if things change.

Not every applicant is right for the job. **Disqualify** removes an applicant from your active process and records why, so your team and your reports stay accurate. If things change, you can **requalify** them.

## Disqualify an applicant

You can disqualify an applicant from wherever you're working:

* The **Disqualify** button on [Tasks](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/tasks.md).
* The applicant panel in the [Inbox](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/inbox.md#act-on-the-applicant-without-leaving-the-inbox).
* The quick actions on a card on the [Pipeline](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/pipeline.md).
* The [applicant profile](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/applicants/applicant-profile.md).
* [Bulk actions](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/applicants/bulk-actions.md), to disqualify several applicants at once.

Choose the reason that really applies, for example **Did Not Pass Screening**, **Candidate Withdrew**, or **Offer Declined**. Your team manages the list of reasons in [Disqualified reasons](https://doc.enfue.com/settings/applications/disqualified-reasons.md).

Disqualified applicants become **Inactive**. They're hidden from your default views, and an alert on their profile shows they've been disqualified.

> [!TIP]
>
> Strong candidate, wrong timing? Add them to a [talent pool](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/talent-pools.md) before you disqualify them, or use the **Move to talent pool** reason, so they're easy to find for your next role.

## Change the reason

Picked the wrong reason? Open the applicant and change their disqualification reason. The reason matters: it feeds the **Disqualified Reason Breakdown** in [Reports](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/reports.md#recruiter-activity-for-recruiters), which shows why you're losing candidates.

## Requalify an applicant

If an applicant becomes a good fit again, for example a role reopens or they reapply, click **Requalify** on their profile. They become **Active** again and return to your process.

## Find disqualified applicants

On [Applicants](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/applicants/overview.md), [Tasks](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/tasks.md), or a [talent pool](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/talent-pools.md), open **Filters** and tick **Inactive applicants**.
