# Filter applicants

> Find exactly the applicants you need by combining Enfue's built-in filters with filters on your own custom fields.

Enfue gives you two kinds of filters, and you can use them together:

* **Built-in filters** for the information Enfue tracks for every applicant, such as job, stage, assignee, source, and tags.
* **Custom field filters** for the information *you* decided to collect, such as level, years of experience, or English proficiency. See [Custom fields for applicants](https://doc.enfue.com/settings/applications/custom-fields-for-applicants.md).

Combine them to answer precise questions, for example: "Which senior applicants from LinkedIn, with good English, are still active for the Backend Developer job?"

## Where you can filter

| Page | What you're filtering | Custom field filters |
| - | - | - |
| [Applicants](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/applicants/overview.md#search-and-filter) | Every applicant, across all jobs | Yes |
| [Talent Pools](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/talent-pools.md#filter-the-pool) | The applicants in one pool | Yes |
| [Tasks](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/tasks.md#filter-your-tasks) | Applicants waiting for your decision | Built-in filters |
| [Pipeline](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/pipeline.md) | Applicants on the Kanban board | Built-in filters |

## Built-in filters

### In the toolbar

| Filter | Use it to |
| - | - |
| **Search** | Find someone by name, email address, or phone number. |
| **Jobs** | Show applicants for one or more jobs. |
| **Stages** | Show applicants in one or more stages. You can also click a stage box above the table. |
| **Assignees** | Show applicants assigned to particular team members, for example yourself. |

### In the Filters panel

Click **Filters** to open the panel. The options depend on the page:

| Filter | Use it to |
| - | - |
| **Active applicants** and **Inactive applicants** | Show applicants still in your process, disqualified applicants, or both. |
| **Flagged applicants** | Show applicants your team has flagged. |
| **Applicants with evaluations** | Show applicants with at least one evaluation. |
| **Updates** | Show applicants updated **Today**, in the **Last 3d**, or in the **Last 7d**. |
| **Tags** | Show applicants with a particular [tag](https://doc.enfue.com/hiring/applicants/tags.md). |
| **Source** | Show applicants from a particular channel, such as **LinkedIn** or **ITViec**. See [Applicant sources](https://doc.enfue.com/settings/applications/applicant-source-management.md). |
| **Applied Duration** and **Updated Duration** | Show applicants who applied, or were last updated, between two dates. |

## Custom field filters

Every [custom field for applicants](https://doc.enfue.com/settings/applications/custom-fields-for-applicants.md) you create can also be used as a filter, whether applicants fill it in on the application form or your team fills it in.

**1. Open the filters**

On the Applicants page or in a talent pool, click **Filters**.

**2. Choose a custom field**

Pick the field you want to filter by, for example **Your Level** or **Candidate ranking**.

**3. Choose the values**

Pick the answers you're looking for. What you can choose depends on the field's type.

| Field type | Example field | Example filter |
| - | - | - |
| **Multi select** | Your Level | Applicants whose level is **Senior** or **Lead** |
| **Star rating** | English proficiency | Applicants rated highly for English |
| **Date** | Available from | Applicants available within a date range |
| **Text** | Years of relevant experience | Applicants whose answer contains particular words |

> [!TIP]
>
> Choose **Multi select** or **Star rating** when you create a field you'll want to filter on. Fixed answers are much easier to filter than free text, where everyone writes their answer differently.

## Combine filters

All the filters you choose apply together, so each one narrows the list further. The count on the right, for example **12/358 applicants**, shows how many match out of the total. The number on each button shows how many options are selected in it.

A few useful combinations:

| You want to find | Combine |
| - | - |
| Strong candidates for a new senior role | **Your Level**: Senior + **Active applicants** + sort by **Match score** |
| Who's waiting on you today | **Assignees**: you + **Updates**: Today |
| Job fair candidates with good English | **Tags**: `job-fair-oct-2026` + **English proficiency** rating |
| Past applicants worth another look | Open a talent pool, then **Inactive applicants** + your custom fields |

Click **Clear all** to remove every filter and start again.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Filters only work on information you've recorded. Keep sources, tags, and custom fields filled in, so your filters find everyone they should.
